Realizing that his project with Mahesh Babu will only takes place next year, director Gautham Menon is looking for other heroes to star in his next. Buzz is that he is more interested in Allu Arjun. Also both the star and the director recently met and had a discussion, nothing has officially been finalized. But source say, a project in their combination is in the pipeline.

Currently, Allu Arjun is finishing off Sukumar directed Arya –2 and then will move on to Gunashekar’s film.

Leading overseas distributor Tolly 2 Holly has entered into film production. Its maiden movie is currently under progress. Starring Ajay and newcomer Madhurima, it is directed by debutant S.S.Murthy who assisted ace-director Chandrashekar Yeleti.

“We distributed blockbusters like Jalsa, Dhee, Ready, Dubai Seenu, Krishna, Pellaina Kottalo and Andala Ramudu in overseas market. We like to repeat the same success magic in movie business too. Our maiden film will have all the elements that appeal to our Telugu audiences with more emphasis on romance, entertainment and sentiment,” says Sudhakar Chaganti who co-produces it with Ganesh Indukuri.

Manisharma is providing the music while Kamalakar handles the camera. It is slated for April release.

This will be the first film for Ajay as hero. He is quite busy as leading actor these days.

All set for the grand launch of hero Srikanth’s 100th movie. Ace director Krishnavamsi is directing this special movie for Srikanth.Bangalore based businessmen are producing it and the launch is planned on February 7th.

After long time, Srikanth will be romancing with two heroines in this movie. Parachuri Brothers are penning the script. Currently Krishnavamsi is giving final touches to the script.

Anushka starrer Arundhati has emerged the real winner among all the new releases. And the movie is all set to create records. According to trade pundits, Arundhati will be the highest grocer among films that had ‘heroine’s in the lead. Rough estimate is that the movie might end up collecting Rs 26 Crores (share). As of now, the collections indicate that it will be one of the top three highest grocers of all time. This is unprecedented for a heroine movie.

USA release this weekend

With craze surrounding and demand, producer Shyam Prasad Reddy has increased number of prints and is releasing with another 75 prints in Andhra Pradesh. In USA, the movie is hitting this Friday. It remains to be seen will it create same hysteria abroad?

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s entire family has plunged into politics – directly or indirectly. Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja supports his father’s political cause by lending a voice for the party’s song. Yes, Ram Charan Teja turns singer but not for a movie. He sang a song for Praja Rajyam. As part of publicity, Chiranjeevi floated Prajarajyam Party is coming up with several songs and videos and other publicity material. For one of the party song, Ram Charan has lent his voice.

Jagapathi Babu’s next film in the direction of V Samudra is titled as Adhineta. It is an action oriented family drama. Sraddha Das plays female lead. KK Radhamohan produces this film Satya Sai Arts banner. This film will be launched on 17 January and would be completed in a single schedule. Srikanth Deva handles music. Paruchuri brothers provide story and dialogues.

MS Raju has shown the complete visuals of all songs in Maska film on 9 January to the media. Ram’s dances are going to be highlight. Hare Hare Rama, Kalloki Dilloki and Bagdad Gajadonda songs have terrific dances of Ram. Hare Hare Rama is going to be a highlight in terms of the dances. Speaking to the media, MS Raju said that he previewed the songs to show the kind of effort Ram has put in for the film. Maska is all set to release all over the world on 14 January.

Amir Khan’s latest film Ghajini is creating records now. It collected 200 crores (161 crores in India and 39 crores in overseas) so far. In comparison Singh is Kinng, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Golmal Returns earned 145 crores, 120 crores and 90 crores respectively. The success of Ghajini is being compared with that of Gadar and Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun. The producer is yet to sell DVD and satellite rights. The satellite rights are expected to bring in addition 20 crores revenue.

Shyam Prasad Reddy is planning to release his film Arundhati with 35 prints in AP. He wants to increase the prints number in the later weeks as mouth talk picks up. Neetu Chandra is said to have emailed a complaint on Raja Sekhar and Jeevitha to city police commissioner of Hyderabad. She alleged that the Rajasekhar couple harassed her when she was shooting for Satyameva Jayathe last month. Mumbai Mirror wrote an article in the last week about Neetu Chandra bothered by Rajasekhar couple. The city police commissioner clarified that he has received a complaint through email. But it is not sure if Neetu Chandra sent that email or somebody did it using her name. He would be registering a complaint only if Neetu Chandra comes to a Hyderabad police station and lodges a complaint. Mean while, Jeevitha thrashed this as a malign campaign by the people in film industry who does not like Raja Sekhar.

After buying Baladoor, Avakai Biryani and Sasirekha Parinayam Sri Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara films has bought Mumaith Khan’s next project Target. This film is based on Sharon Stone’s blockbuster ‘Basic Instinct’. Siva Balaji plays the role of cop done by Michael Douglas. Sraddha Das plays another spicy role in the film.

Cyber solutions private limited has produced a 3-D animation Telugu film titled Alibaba 40 Dongalu. Instead of releasing in theaters, the producer has released the DVD of the film. The production of Alibaba took 14 months to make with a budget of 24 lacks. This DVD movie was aimed at children and adult alike. EVV Satyanarayana launched the DVD at a function organized today.

After distributing many hit movies in USA, Kad Entertainment is partering with Suresh Movies to jointly distribute MS RAJU's MASKA for this sankranti.

Maska is a said to be a Bobbili Raja kind of entertainer with youth elements and racy screenplay. After industry hit movie "READY" Ram is playing as main Lead Hero in this movie. Hansika Motwani of Desamuduru fame is playing as Lead heroin. B.Gopal directs the film. MS Raju produces it. Chakri's music is already a blockbuster. Maska will be released worldwide on 14 January 2009.

Traditionally Sankranthi season is the most lucrative season for release of Tollywood movies. Some of the biggest blockbusters in Tollywood history – Kalisundam Raa, Narasinha Naidu, Okkadu, etc - were released during this season only. Off late, big heroes are distancing away from the Pongal festival. Last year, except Ravi Teja (Krishna) and Sumanth (Pourudu), no star came up with a movie in January. 2009 is going to be the same way.

Only three movies – Maska, Arundhati and Fitting Master – are scheduled for Sankranti release. All these three flicks have no big commercial stars.

Maska stars young hero Ram and Hansika as the lead pair and is directed by B Gopal and produced by M S Raju. It is slated for Jan 9th or 14th release. Anushka starrer Arundhati is hitting on Jan 14th. Allari Naresh too comes on the same day with Fitting Master.

Postponed

Other expected Sankranthi releases like Siddardh’s Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam, Nitin and Priyamani’s Drona and Rajashekar’s Satyameva Jayate have been postponed to month end.
